AWS Data Exchange

  • What it is
    • A marketplace to find, subscribe to, and use third-party data sets in the cloud.
    • Thousands of products: financial market data, weather, healthcare, demographics, geospatial, mapping.
  • How it works
    • Subscribe through the console; data is delivered into your Amazon S3 bucket, or accessed via API, Amazon Redshift data shares, or S3 access points.
    • Automatic updates when the provider publishes a new revision, with Amazon EventBridge notifications.
    • Billing appears on your AWS bill.
  • Why
    • Removes the FTP-and-invoice cycle of traditional data procurement, and puts the data next to the analytics services that will consume it.
  • Not to be confused with
    • AWS Marketplace — third-party software. Data Exchange is third-party data.
