Dedicated Instances

  • What it is
    • Instances that run on hardware dedicated to a single customer account — no other tenants share the physical server.
    • Billed per instance, at a premium over shared tenancy.
  • The limits
    • No visibility into or control of the physical host (no socket/core targeting).
    • Stopping and starting may place the instance on a different physical host.
    • Cannot be used to satisfy socket- or core-bound software licensing.
  • Not to be confused with
  • Exam signal
    • “Isolation from other customers” → Dedicated Instances. “Existing per-socket license” → Dedicated Hosts.
