Dedicated Instances
- What it is
- Instances that run on hardware dedicated to a single customer account — no other tenants share the physical server.
- Billed per instance, at a premium over shared tenancy.
- The limits
- No visibility into or control of the physical host (no socket/core targeting).
- Stopping and starting may place the instance on a different physical host.
- Cannot be used to satisfy socket- or core-bound software licensing.
- Not to be confused with
- Dedicated Hosts — full physical server, visible host affinity, required for Bring Your Own License.
- Exam signal
- “Isolation from other customers” → Dedicated Instances. “Existing per-socket license” → Dedicated Hosts.
