    • IT infrastructure that a company owns and operates in its own facility (or a colocation cage) rather than consuming as a cloud service.

    • A 3–5 year refresh cycle whether or not the capacity was ever used.
    • Capacity bought for peak; utilization typically low.

    • On premises, you are responsible for every layer, from the physical building to the application.
