AWS Billing Conductor

  • What it is
    • Customized billing and chargeback for AWS Organizations. Produce pro forma (custom-rate) billing data that differs from your actual AWS invoice.
  • Why it exists
    • Managed service providers and resellers need to bill their end customers at their own rates, with markups, discounts, or flat fees.
    • Large enterprises need internal chargeback that reflects negotiated internal rates rather than raw AWS pricing.
  • Concepts
    • Billing groups — the set of accounts a custom rate applies to.
    • Pricing rules — markups, discounts, or flat-rate overrides.
    • Custom line items — add support fees or credits.
  • Key point
    • It does not change what AWS actually charges you. It changes the report you show downstream.
  • Not to be confused with
    • consolidated billing — one real invoice for the whole organization. Billing Conductor produces a second, synthetic view on top of it.
